2016 05 29 - End of Round 3 update

OK... Stanley Cup Final Round kicks off tomorrow.  Our pool is officially down to the wire!!!  If San Jose wins the Cup (first time in their history!!), HA wins the pool.  If Pittsburgh wins the Cup, EL1 takes the pool.  Can't get any more straight forward than this as far as the final show down goes :D

2016 05 12 - End of Round 2 Update

Well well well... 4 NHL teams left in the running to win the Stanley Cup; 4 entries still have picks in the running to score points.

However, unless I am very much mistaken, there are only 2 entries still in the hunt to win the pool!!

MA's only remaining pick is matched by leader EL1 and the difference in current points is too huge for even the bonus points to make up, guaranteeing MA cannot overtake whatsoever.

CL's only remaining pick can allow her to overtake current leader EL1.  However, under that scenario (with San Jose winning next 2 rounds to take the Cup), HA will still stay ahead of CL regardless of who wins the Eastern Conference even if CL picks up the maximum bonus points.  That's why CL is unfortunately mathematically out of the running already :(  Darn!!!

The Western Conference outcome may readily determine EL1 as our pool winner if St Louis beats San Jose.  That should be a great series in its own right but with the battle for this pool, it is suddenly even more exciting - even though I have long dropped my $20 :p

What's more interesting for the pool is if San Jose beats St Louis.  Depending on how many games it takes, HA can score 50 points or 53 points for that... taking her to be either 1 point behind EL1 or 2 points ahead!!  With both HA and EL1 picking Pittsburgh to win in the Eastern Conference, the 3 bonus point HA may score with San Jose CAN spell an immediate end for EL1 if Tampa knocks Pittsburgh off!

There is still possibility that our pool battle will go all the way to the Final series.  Should we get to that point, it will become fairly straight forward.  San Jose wins the Cup, HA wins.  Pittsburgh wins the Cup, EL1 wins.  I honestly don't know if I want to cheer for San Jose, Pittsburgh, HA or EL1!

2016 05 11 - Round 2 update

Well, it didn't take much for EL1 to jump back into the lead.  I've looked ahead at the picks for round 3 and the final, CL can still give EL1 a run for his money!!!  It's all hinging on San Jose... Go Sharks Go!!

2016 05 09 - Round 2 update

With 1 series in round 2 over, CT has now jumped in the lead!  However, the remaining series in round 2 can still end very much in EL1's favour... let's see how it goes in the next few days!!

2016 04 30 update

Round 2 has been in progress for few days now.  This update factors in the final results from round 1 and indicates teams that are already eliminated.  Your truly, EC, is absolutely dead last with disastrous round 1 picks.  Given that picks made for the subsequent rounds, I stand no chance of mounting any comeback.  However, I will duly continue updating the pool and keep half an eye on the exciting playoffs :p

2016 04 26 - Round 1 Update

Round 1 is almost all done.  EL1 is now our sole leader.  EC is crashing and burning with lowly 13 points >.<  Ouch!!!
